AM + PM Skincare Routine

First off, these photos are unedited. They were taken in as similar settings as I could manage. The before photos on the left are from the end of September 2023, the after photos are from February 2024. (Ignore the fact that I’m sorely due to use my Dermaflash Luxe+ on that peach fuzz!)

These may not look like the craziest acne transformation photos, but it was the worst acne I’ve ever experienced in my life. As soon as I thought they were healing/going away, I could feel new ones pop up under the surface. I thought as I neared my second trimester, it would get better, but it didn’t. So I was fed up and made a change!

This was my first experience with acne and wow….let me just say, it is a humbling experience. Before I get into the products, I will reiterate what I’m sure we all know: it all starts from within.

Supplements:

So for starters, if I hadn’t been pregnant, I would have been diligent in taking this Protea nutrition supplement that has helped me balance my hormones in the past! (I don’t get anything from sharing this — it’s just truly helped me a ton and I highly recommend! It’s called Baseline+ and I buy it through my friend’s affiliate link).

Once I hit my second trimester and cleared it with my OB/GYN, I started taking turmeric again (not the full dose, but even just a little seemed to help me). I think my body responded well to it and maybe yours will, too! Just wanted to share as it’s not fun to deal with continual breakouts. I think this helped quell any inflammation in my body that was showing up on my face. I get mine from Costco but you can also find them here!

Products:

Okay on to the skincare products. I went back to a really basic routine that I had used a few years back when I was pregnant with my daughter in 2018/2019. I saw a major improvement in my skin (and I wasn’t even dealing with breakouts then!). It’s a cream cleanser, a hydrating vitamin c serum, an eye cream and a moisturizer. I will link the set here. Ngl, AS SOON as I started back into this routine, I started seeing an improvement in my skin and the nonstop cycle of breakouts started to subside. I’m talking days.

(some of the skincare products I used to help get my pregnancy/hormonal acne under control)

Now, everyone is different, so what works for me may not work for you. But I share in hopes that it helps someone. I know what it’s like to be at the end of your rope. It’s discouraging feeling like you’re not seeing any improvement in your skin and it’s extra limited in what you can use while pregnant.

I did just those 4 products for awhile. (Keep it super simple in the beginning!) Now, this is my current morning lineup:

MORNING routine:

  1. Splash face with water.
  2. Apply Bellame serum to damp skin on face and neck.
  3. Apply Saie Glowy Super Gel in Sunglow (for some color!).
  4. Apply Colleen Rothschild illuminating tinted eye cream (this stuff is insane at color correcting and brightening!).
  5. Apply Bellame moisturizer or skip and just apply sunscreen. OR see the the most recent skin prep I’ve added under “BONUS” below!

Sunscreens I love and rotate between:

FINAL STEP: In these winter months, I feel pale as a ghost! So I use various bronzing products to warm up my complexion. Here are a few of my favorites:

BONUS: the most recent addition to my morning skincare routine is a drugstore find and she is GOLD. I honestly don’t know what took me so long to try it. It’s the L’Oreal Lumi Glotion! SO good. It’s gorgeous and pearlescent but also so moisturizing! Honestly such a good moisturizer. I love using it in the mornings and it preps my skin beautifully for makeup! (It’s also gorgeous on its own) I’ve been using shade 902 light since the other was out of stock in store, but I’d love to try 903 medium and see how that works for my skin (especially as we move into the warmer months and I get a bit more color on my face!).

NIGHTTIME routine:

  1. Cleanse with Bellame cleanser.
  2. Double cleanse with Bioderma micellar water on cotton rounds.
  3. Apply REN Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Toner (some nights, not every single one).
  4. Apply rhode glazing milk (SO good!).
  5. Apply Esteé Lauder serum to face and neck (LOVE this stuff).
  6. Apply Bellame eye cream (favorite eye cream!)
  7. Apply moisturizer (this is one product I usually rotate, but lately I’ve been using the rhode barrier restore cream!).

I hope this helps! If anything changes, I’ll update but I’ve been keeping it pretty simple lately and this has been reviving my skin so…I’m happy!!!

Here’s to clean and clear skin in 2024!
